Allison Hightower, one of the elite players in LSU history, is expected to be one of the top 10 picks in the WNBA draft to be held Thursday in Secaucus, N.J. If that happens, she will be the seventh WNBA first-round pick from LSU. The first was Marie Ferdinand in 2001.

Both teams now have made it to the Final Four. The competition has gotten, taller, tougher, and better. The stakes have also become greater now because it’s win or go home.

The game of women’s basketball has changed over the years. In the early part of the 19th century, girls played half court. Three players from each team would play offense and defense, and they were not allowed to cross the half court line.
