Andre Dawson, inducted into the Hall of Fame in July, was honored in pregame ceremonies at Wrigley Field. The outfielder known as "The Hawk" was given a No. 8 from the Wrigley Field scoreboard as well as a copy of Mayor Richard Daley's proclamation that Monday was Andre Dawson Day in Chicago.

Frank Thomas concluded his career with a .301 average, 521 home runs, 1,704 RBIs and 1,494 runs scored. He is one of four players in baseball history to have a .300 average, 500 home runs, 1,500 RBIs, 1,000 runs scored and 1,500 walks for their career, joining Mel Ott, Babe Ruth and Ted Williams.

Widely known as one of the Negro League's greatest power hitters (twice leading the league in home runs), George "Mule" Suttles also consistently hit for a high average. In his 21 seasons as an active player he compiled a .321 career batting average.
